Las Cafeteras

I saw this band play last night and I felt so full leaving the show. Their music is honest. They talk about love, social dichotomies, politics, freedom, and everything in between. They're true to their roots as they call themselves an, "urban-folk-afro-mexican soul" band. So many people, including myself, forget the African diaspora not only sent our ancestors to the Caribbean and America, but to Mexico as well. Las Cafeteras spoke a lot about the African Diaspora during their show and how decedents of Africans would use music and drums to communicate. When the masters discovered they were using drums to communicate, they took away their drums. So what did they use? Their feet. It was fun history lesson to get at a concert.

Here are some more songs from Las Cafeteras, check 'em out:

Seriously though, they're so poppin.
