Girl's Glasses May Have Spared Her In Drive-By Shooting
by news

A Seattle teenager's glasses may have saved her life by deflecting a bullet fired in a drive-by shooting.

The 16-year-old girl was relaxing on the couch in her living room when gunfire tore into her home, according to a statement from Detective Mark Jamieson on the Seattle Police Department website. Rounds went through walls and a front window, one of which struck the bridge of the girl's glasses.

Although the glasses were broken, the teenager was spared from serious injury. Several other people were in the home at the time of the shooting, including children. None of them were hurt, even after the shooters returned to fire into the house a second time, Jamieson said.

The girl was alert when police arrived and was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

Detectives from the Seattle Police Department's gang unit are conducting an investigation, Jamieson said. They believe the home was targeted, but do not think the girl was the intended victim.
