With Election Day less than a week away, the push to re-elect Rochester Mayor Tom Richards is continuing, even though he's not actively campaigning.
The effort is called Turn Out for Tom, supporting Richards, who lost in a Democratic primary to city council president Lovely Warren.
Tom Cray, spokesman for the effort, believes Richards would serve another term in office, though he hasn't spoken to Richards personally about the push to get him re-elected.
"There's such energy around this, and it's a good thing. I think people know that if there are enough votes, Tom will re-commit to the job," Cray said.
Cray has known Richards for 30 years. They served together on the board for the Veterans Outreach Center.
Richards, who stopped actively campaigning following the death of his son in September, is on the Working Families Party and Independence Party Lines.
Warren is the Democratic candidate, and Green Party candidate Alex White is also in the race.
