Monroe County Democratic Party Chairman Joe Morelle is once again looking to make it clear that Lovely Warren is Rochester's Democratic candidate for mayor.
Morelle spoke after a mailing went out to voters implying there were multiple Democrats in the mayoral race.
He also questioned the financing of the Independence Party of Monroe County, and says it's violating New York State election law.
"The Independence Party should disclose, because they are now spending money on behalf of a candidate. The law is very clear. Just because you missed a deadline or you weren't spending money at the beginning that you don't have to disclose. It is the law, and frankly I'm assuming if they've received more than a thousand dollars and are acting on behalf of a candidate, they have every obligation to disclose."
The head of the Independence Party released this statement, responding to the allegations:
"I am somewhat struck by the fact that the Warren campaign has criticized me for not filing reports timely when virtually none of their reports this year were filed on time either.
And the source of their funds, including the supposedly unauthorized PAC headed by close Warren and Gantt confidante, lobbyist Scott Gaddy who contributed $40,000, has been widely questioned."
Three candidates will be on the ballot. Democrat Lovely Warren, Green Party Candidate Alex White and on the Independence and Working Families line, Tom Richards.
