A walk around the southwest neighborhoods of Rochester gave Mayor Tom Richards and Police Chief James Sheppard a chance to address residents' concerns.
The mayor and chief met at the corner of Chili and Sherwood avenues.
"On the Street" is a program the Rochester Police Department has been trying to do at least once a month. Southwest residents requested that they be the next destination, especially after the crime they've have seen over the last few weeks.
One issue residents shared was that they would like to see officers walk through the neighborhood, instead of staying in their cars.
"I can remember a time when they knew my grandmother on a first name basis. I wouldn't be averse to any of those things. I think it would help all of us out," said Leslie Green, Rochester.
"We do try to be out in the neighborhoods as frequently as we can because a lot of times we can have a community meeting or something and people wont come, so I feel it's important for us to go to them," Sheppard said.
