ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Young writers had the chance to show off their talents during the Young Writers Summer Camp. Middle school students were invited to attend, and get the chance to improve their prose and writing skills.
The Genesee Valley Writing Project Camp runs from August 5 through August 9 at the University of Rochester's River Campus.
Some of the campers said the program provides the freedom to explore and expand their writing interests.
"Fiction to me is some place I can go and it's like a new world and that's why I like fiction mostly. Writing about it makes me feel pretty cool because my imagination just flies," said Isabella Fazio, student at Roth Middle School.
The middle school students are taught by New York State teachers who were trained by the Writing Project's Summer program. It is sponsored by the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester.
