A portion of State Street in downtown Rochester remains closed to traffic as crews work to repair a water main break that happened late Wednesday morning.
Water poured down State Street from Main Street to Church Street for a couple of hours until water bureau crews could get in and stop the flow of water.
The city water bureau says the leak was in a 20-inch water main that serves fire hydrants and sprinklers.
Drinking water is not and will not be affected.
Part of the road buckled where the break happened.
People did their best to stay dry and out of the water.
The water bureau says it will work around the clock to get the repairs complete. State Street should be open to two-way traffic Thursday morning.
