Rochester Celebrates Gay Pride 2013! The theme this year is inspired by The Wizard Of Oz!!
Pride weekend kicked off Friday with the traditional Pride Flag Raising. This year is especially symbolic because it is the very first time the rainbow colored flag that represents gay pride, will be displayed from the space frame in Manhattan Square Park in downtown Rochester.
New this year to 2013 Pride is Pride Family Fest which is Saturday from noon - 3:30pm at the Festival site - Manhattan Square Park- that will include activities, games, food, and storytelling for families and seniors. This event will be alcohol free.
Saturday, July 20th the celebration continues with the 24th Annual Pride Parade. The Pride Parade will start at 3pm on Park Ave. and travel through the East End Area onto Manhattan Square Park where it ends.
There is a new route for the parade so make sure you check out the official website at www.gayalliance.org.
Where the parade ends the party begins!!! The Pride Festival starts at 3:30pm and goes until 9:30pm there will be on-stage entertainment, food, music, beer, and more. This event you can purchase a ticket in advance at rochesterpride.com Outlandish, Equal Grounds or you have the option to pay at the gate for a little more.
There will performances at the 2013 Pride Festival by the lovely Samantha Vega, "Pandora's Box" from Ru Paul's Drag Race, Recording Artist "Dev". There will be a drag show, live bands, and DJ.
Sunday, July 21st the Pride Picnic takes place at Genesee Valley Park from 1pm -7pm. This year they will serve picnic style food and beverages. They will do the annual raffle, have games, picture taking, and much more.
