There is new information in the case of the double murder suspect accused of shooting a Rochester Police officer.
Lawyers handling the case of Ralph Strong appeared in Rochester City Court on Wednesday morning. Strong was not in court due to his injuries from a shootout with police officers last week.
His lawyers were present to hear that a grand jury has voted to indict Strong on one felony count.
Strong is a suspect in a double homicide which took place on Central Avenue in Rochester. He was also involved in a shootout with Rochester police officers who were trying to arrest him on Thursday, June 27.
Strong was shot several times in the shootout. He is currently listed in satisfactory condition at Strong Memorial Hospital where he was arraigned on two counts of first degree murder. Those charges are in connection with the Central Avenue shooting.
Rochester Police Sergeant Flamur Zenelovic and an innocent bystander, Gene McDougal, were also shot during the shootout.
