Albany, N.Y. - State lawmakers say a new proposal would help ensure that suspected drunk drivers pay the ambulance bill.
Under the proposal, a suspected drunk driver involved in a crash would not get his/her license back until the ambulance bill is paid.
Lawmakers say ambulances are having an increasingly difficult time getting payments from drivers who need their services.
The bill was passed in the Senate but lawmakers say it might not pass the Assembly until next year.
