Two Charged in Connection With Irondequoit Bank Robbery

Police in Irondequoit, along with the FBI, arrested a man in connection with the robbery of a Canandaigua National Bank branch last month.
Alejandro Lopez, 24, of Rochester is charged with robbery and grand larceny.

Police say Lopez entered the Hudson Avenue bank on May 28 dressed in a suit and wearing a ski mask. Investigators say he pointed what appeared to be a gun at the teller and demanded money.

They say he then stole the teller's car keys and left the area. The car was later found burned and abandoned on Reliance Street in Rochester.
Police have charged Anthony Benitez, 25, with arson. They say he helped Lopez burn the car to destroy evidence.

Lopez is being held in the Monroe County Jail on $250,000 pending his next court appearance.
