BUFFALO, N.Y. � Jim Kelly had successful surgery Friday to remove cancer in his upper jaw.
A statement released by ECMC says Kelly underwent a partial maxillectomy and reconstruction.
The hospital says the surgery went well, and Kelly is recovering comfortably. He will be in the hospital until he feels ready to go home. They are hopeful for and anticipating a speedy recovery.
The former Bills quarterback announced on Monday that he had squamous cell carcinoma in his upper jaw, but believed he detected it early enough to to make a full recovery.
