Brighton, N.Y. - Police are following leads as they look for a suspect who sexually assaulted an undergraduate student on the University of Rochester campus.
Saturday, around 8:20 p.m., an undergraduate student was walking on Murlin Drive off of East River Road.
She passed a black sedan parked along the road; a man in the car got out, grabbed her clothing and pulled her to the ground, sexually assaulting her.
A passing motorist stopped and the victim yelled to call police.
The suspect fled in his car.
The University of Rochester is adding more patrols in the area of the attack.
"We encourage students and employees to always stay alert and walk in groups if possible and if anybody ever feels uncomfortable walking alone security service is always available to come and give them a ride," said Sarah Miller, a spokesperson for the college.
Brighton police are working with campus security.
Police are giving special attention to the area along Murlin Drive.
Anyone with information or who was in the area of Kendrick Road, East River Road, and Murlin Drive on Saturday around 8:20 p.m. is asked to call 9-1-1 if they noticed anything suspicious.
