here's a public hearing Wednesday morning on Rochester Mayor Tom Richards' plan to require all potential city employees be fingerprinted, so a criminal background check can be done.
Right now the checks are done through an outside contractor, but the city says it'd get more information if it started using state and FBI background checks which require fingerprints.
Richards says it would also save about $34,000 a year.
The city council passed the change to the city charter but it has to have a public hearing.
That happens at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at City Hall.
