Rochester, to me, is one of the greatest small cities in the nation. I absolutely love my home, my community, my city!
Once known as the 'World's Image Center,' Rochester, N.Y. has grown into the medical and technological epicenter for higher education. We are home to Garth Fagan Dance, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Memorial Art Gallery, and Strong National Museum of Play. There are so many more positive elements that make Rochester a unique and beautiful city to live in with plenty of opportunity for people to learn, grow, and enjoy life.
The recent negative violent events have taken a toll emotionally, spiritually, and mentally on our community as a whole. The violence has now become ALL of our problem, as a matter of fact I refuse to call this a problem because this is more about making the decision to change.
We do not have as many problems as we have decisions to make - a statement that I love and utilize daily. I am not saying we should discount the issues or problems we have but most of the time the solution is simply deciding what to do next.
When we have guests coming to our city to film a movie and we yes "we", allow a couple of ignorant people assault then rob one of the crew members from the Spider Man movie which has been confirmed by RPD according to CITY Newspaper - that is NOT okay.
We recently had a music artist come into our city for a show and they arrived the first thing she asked "am I going to get shot?". Do you think this is acceptable?? I sure don't and neither should you, let's collectively stop making excuses, raise our expectations, and elevate our quality of life in our beloved community.
