Rochester, N.Y. - Two teenagers are crediting a smoke detector for saving their lives.
Neighbors said they saw the pair jumping from a rear window of a house on High Street Sunday afternoon.
The teens had been sleeping on the second floor when their smoke alarm woke them up.
The Rochester Fire Department said the fire started in the first-floor kitchen and spread to the second floor and attic.
89 High Street suffered major damage; 93 High Street suffered just minor damage.
No one was injured, and the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
The Red Cross is providing food and shelter for four adults and seven children.
