Albany, N.Y. - The New York State Assembly could be on the brink of another ethics scandal.
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is expected to ask the ethics committee to consider expelling Assemblyman Vito Lopez.
That action is expected Friday, May 17.
A special prosecutor and the state ethics board reported several accusations by women staffers claiming inappropriate conduct by Lopez.
The reports recommended no criminal charges, but were critical of the Assembly's handling of the case.
Silver is criticized for agreeing to a secret settlement with some of Lopez' accusers.
