Pride and Passion Baseball Exhibit

The Rochester Public Library is proud to host the traveling exhibition Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience from May 1 - June 14, 2013. This exhibit tells the story of how black baseball players from the late 19th century onward persevered through discrimination to excel at the sport they loved.

Each Division of the Central Library will be doing some kind of display on the African American Baseball Experience, Race, early rules in Baseball, and old team jerseys and gloves, information on Effa Manley, an African American female baseball team owner, . . . and more.

Special events include:

Hallowed Grounds: A History of Rochester's Fields of Dreams

Hallowed Grounds: A History of Rochester's Fields of Dreams will be presented by the Rochester Baseball Historical Society.


Let's Talk Baseball with Johnny Antonelli and Scott Pitoniak

Scott Pitoniak, a best-selling author and long-time Rochester newspaper writer, will talk about the glory days of baseball with baseball great Johnny Antonelli, a Rochester native who became a Major League Baseball star.
