Police say Kierra Mae Jones, 20, died after she was shot on York Street.
People gathered Wednesday at the site of the shooting, forming a memorial in Jones' honor.
According to police, the shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Tuesday when a car pulled up to 90 York Street and fired multiple shots.
Officers found Jones shot along with Vernell Rose, 21. Both were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Jones later died. Rose is listed in stable condition.
During the investigation, police say Priscilla Pollock, 23, was driven by someone from the scene to Strong Hospital. Her injuries are considered non-life threatening.
Chief James Sheppard of the Rochester Police Department says investigators need the community's cooperation.
"I'm pleading for additional information because I do believe that there is information out there that the community can come forward with. We've had a number of arrests over the past several months which people have stepped up and assisted the Rochester Police Department, [and] I'm asking that hopefully that people make that the new trend and that we get that cooperation because anytime you have bullets flying, innocent people can also be victimized."
Sheppard says there will be an increased patrols in the York Street area until additional information is gathered into Tuesday's homicide.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
