Rochester, N.Y. - Preparation is underway for the Lilac Festival which starts Friday, May 10th.
Many of the tents have gone up as vendors get ready to move in for the next two weeks.
Festival Coordinator Jeff Springut said there won't be any major changes, but festival goers might notice some subtle ones, like an expanded kid's area.
There will be a wine and chocolate tasting, featuring more than 35 wineries.
Also, a craft and beer garden, showcasing more than 20 beer companies across the country.
Along with plenty of food, there will be lots of music with about 80 musical performances, including Eddie Money on Mother's Day.
Last year, late snowfall and cold weather damaged some of the lilac bushes before the festival, but this year, it looks like the stage will be set for the main attraction.
"I'm told that when the festival opens, lilacs will be in bloom and fragrant and by the 2nd weekend, they will be in their peak performance," Springut said. "Keep your fingers crossed, that seems to be the one thing we have no control over but it seems like we're on the right path."
The event begins with a grand opening ceremony at noon next Friday.
