The Food and Drug Administration is warning about an ingredient commonly used in dietary supplements.
Dimethylamylamine, or DMAA, is promoted as a natural way to enhance athletic performance and speed up weight loss.
However, the FDA says it can cause increased blood pressure, shortness of breath, chest tightening, cardiovascular problems, and even heart attacks.
The FDA has received 86 reports of illness or death associated with products that contain DMAA.
