Louisville Beats Michigan For NCAA Championship

The Louisville Cardinals are national champions after a hard fought win over Michigan.

Michigan was up by 12 early on but Louisville fought back to cut the lead to one point by half time.

From there they kept their momentum to hold off a late surge by the Wolverines.

Louisville wins its first title since 1986 by beating Michigan 82-76.

"A lot of times when you get to the Final Four, you get to the championship, the game's not always great, not always pretty. But that was a great college basketball game," said Louisville Coach Rick Pitino. "It's been an incredible run with the most wonderful young men I've had the pleasure to be around. So proud of them."

One of the motivations fueling Louisville was teammate Kevin Ware, who broke his leg during the regional finals.
