Global Warming Could Mean Bumpier Flights
by News

Transatlantic flights will likely be bumpier in the future, and scientists say global warming will be to blame.

British scientists at the Universities of Reading and East Anglia say if carbon dioxide levels double by 2050 - as they are expected to - turbulence will be stronger and will happen more often.

Carbon dioxide makes the air less stable for airplanes, leading to turbulence that can cause passenger injuries and structural damage to airplanes.
