Rochester, N.Y. - A long-awaited evaluation of Rochester Animal Services was released Thursday.
The evaluation was ordered by the City of Rochester after two incidents at RAS of accidental dog deaths.
LifeLine Animal Project concluded RAS has a staff that is well-trained, knowledgeable and have good customer service skills, but the report went on to cite several problems.
It said RAS did not have an isolation room for sick animals, its HVAC system wasn't working well making the facility too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, dogs were being underfed, cats cages weren't be properly cleaned, and its euthanasia polices were leading to an unnecessary number of animals being put down.
