Teen pregnancy in Monroe County has been on the decline since 2008.
"We've seen a slow and steady decline," said Jim Harden, President of Compass Care Pregnancy Services, when asked about teen pregnancy.
STD education may have been a contributing factor, said Harden.
"Our thought was let's create a STD platform to reach these women with STD testing and treatment prior to having an unplanned pregnancy," said Harden.
In Monroe County, 1102 teenagers ages 15 to 19 got pregnant in 2011.
The pregnancy rate dropped 10% from the year before and it's the lowest it's been in at least two decades.
The drop mirrors what's happening nationwide, but the reasons why there's a decline are not clear.
