The streak is over. The remarkable 27-game winning streak by the Miami Heat was snapped Wednesday night by the Chicago Bulls, 101-97.
The Heat finished six shy of the 33-game record held by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers.
It was the second-longest winning streak in the history of American major pro sports. Some of those Lakers from the 71-72 team, including Jerry West, believed their time would pass as Miami's streak continued.
After the game, ESPN analyst, Michael Wilbon, stated no team will ever come as close to the Lakers' record as the Miami Heat.
