The Irondequoit man who police say left the scene of a fatal crash on East Avenue in January is due in Pittsford town court today.
Michael T. Hanna, 30 of Irondequoit, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death. He was also given a ticket for an unregistered vehicle. He was arraigned in Pittsford Town Court and released on $1,000 bail.
On January 28, Sheriff's Deputies were called to East Avenue and Kilbourn Road in Pittsford for a man lying on the side of the road. The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man was identified as Vaughn J. Steele, of 26 of Penfield.
Sheriff's Deputies say Hanna called 911 and said he was the driver that hit Steele earlier in the evening. Sheriff's Deputies say Hanna told investigators that he was driving when he hit what he believed to be a garbage can.
