Beyonce In Vogue: Jay-Z's Wife Talks Taking Power, Having More Kids And Loving Her Body

Beyonce is a world-famous singer-actress-entertainer extraordinaire, but Mommy is her most important title.

In Vogue's March issue, Jay-Z's 31-year-old wife says their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, has "grounded me so much more."

"Family has always been important. I've always had my mother and my father and my husband," she says. "But it's just... Life is so much more than...It's not defined by any of this."

By this, she means the fame, money and accolades that come with being a celebrity. And while Bey has her fair share of famous friends, it's 1-year-old Blue Ivy that's "my homey, my best friend."

In fact, Beyonce felt like she and her daughter "were talking" during Blue's birth.

"I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door," she explains. "And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn't think about my own pain...I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication."

And she hopes to feel that special communication again-someday. "When I was younger, there were moments where I said, 'I'm not going to have children,'" she says. "And then moments when I wanted four. And now I definitely want another, but I don't know when."

She adds that becoming a mother has helped her to "really understand the power of my body."

"I just feel my body means something completely different. I feel a lot more confident about it," she says. "Even being heavier, thinner, whatever. I feel a lot more like a woman. More feminine, more sensual. And no shame."

And as much as Beyonce loves being a powerful woman, she admits females still face some obstacles. "Equality is a myth, and for some reason everyone accepts the fact that women don't make as much money as men do," she says.
Her advice? "Power's not given to you. You have to take it."
