Jamaican music industry players are asking artistes to execute more musical diversity and professionalism in 2013. The reggae music industry growing once again due to the rise of several new talents, however some elements of the music industry still need attention.
According reggae artiste Chronixx, he wants reggae music to regain its integrity through unification of the artistes. The artiste highlighted that the genre suffers from commercial backing, but laments that professionalism could eliminate some of the difficulties faced by the industry.
Veteran artiste Richie Spice also commented on the issue stating that he wants reggae to get a wider appeal. The artiste sees reggae music as a family genre and a voice of truth and believes the time has come for reggae to break through fully into the international mainstream media. Only then will the music be able to influence the world positively and accurately.
Peter Tosh's former manager Herbie Miller, supports Richie Spice's analogy. However; he wants to see more musical diversity from the artistes. Miller believes there are many topics of world concern that are not being mentioned in Reggae music. Miller also pleaded with the artistes to stay out of trouble for 2013 and beyond.
