H And M Closing Rochester Area Stores
by News

Victor, N.Y.- H&M is pulling out of the Rochester market. The last day of business at the Greece Ridge and Eastview Mall stores will be January 24.

H&M hasn't said why the stores are closing.

"The well-being of our employees is our top priority and we will support them through the transition," said H&M spokeswoman, Nicole Christie. "All of our employees from these locations will be given options to relocate to comparable positions in stores in the surrounding areas or within the United States."

In a statement Thursday, Dennis Wilmot, Senior Vice President of Leasing and Development for Wilmorite, Inc., the owner of the malls, said "After lengthy negotiations, we were unable to bridge the gap between our respective expectations for the two spaces. We are both disappointed with the outcome but must move forward. Fortunately, we are well on our way to backfilling both locations with new, exciting retail and entertainment concepts and hope to make some announcements in the coming months."

H&M is a Sweden-based clothing store known for fashion at affordable prices.
