President Obama Cried Today Regarding the Massacre in Newtown
by News

It's been an emotional day for everyone: President Obama teared up while delivering a statement to the press on the Newtown school shooting Friday afternoon, pausing for several seconds and wiping under his eye while talking about the children who died. "The majority of those who died today were children," Obama said, and then took a few moments to compose himself. "Our hearts are broken today for the parents and grandparents sisters and brothers of these children," Obama said of the victims. Of those who survived, he said, the parents "know that their children's innocence has been torn away from them too early and there are no words that will ease their pain." At the end of his statement, Obama abruptly left the podium without taking questions.

"We're going to have to come together to prevent meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics," Obama said, in an apparent reference to gun control. It's not clear what that meaningful action will be.
