RazorSharks Training Camp Roster / 19 For 12

Tryouts for the 2010-2011 Rochester RazorSharks basketball team begin Monday. 19 players are on the official tryout list. Coach Rod Baker is expected to keep 12 of the players to begin the team's fourth Premier League season. Six players return from last year's team.

Camp begins with a double session at the Penfield YMCA on Route 250. Practice times are 7:30 to 10am and 2 to 4pm. The PBL season starts December 31st at the Blue Cross Arena when the Sharks host the Dayton Air Strikers. New Years Eve tip off is at 7:05.

These are the players expected at camp Monday.

Returning veterans

Melvin Council: Point guard out of Robert Morris via Wilson H.S. in Rochester, Council is a two year RazorShark veteran. He played just two games in 2009 but appeared 23 times last season, averaging 10 points per game. Council turns 29 next month.

Jerice Crouch: Point guard out of Tennessee-Chattanooga via Henninger H.S. in Syracuse, Crouch has played three seasons for the Sharks. His 5.8 assists per game led the team and ranked fifth in PBL. Crouch is 26.

Fred Durr: Shooting guard out of Oklahoma-Panhandle St. via Milwaukee, Durr is a two year RazorShark veteran. He played in 15 games last season.

Keith Friel: Shooting guard out of the University of Virginia via Durham, NH, Friel is an original RazorShark and the team's career scoring and games played leader. The two time PBL Playoff MVP averaged a team leading 15.9 points per game last season. Friel is 33.

Marlin Johnson: Power forward out of Monroe Community College via Franklin H.S. in Rochester, Johnson has played the last three seasons for the RazorSharks. Johnson was the team's leading rebounder last season pulling down nearly 8 per game. Johnson is 35.

Eric Walton: Power forward out of San Jose State, Walton has spent two season with Rochester. He returned to the RazorSharks last year and averaged 8.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Walton was on the original team in 2005-06 that won the American Basketball Association title.

Former RazorShark
Eric Coley: A 32 year old forward out of Tulsa, Coley played previously for the Sharks in their ABA days.

Draft Picks
Mervyn Clarke: Small forward out of Oakland City. Is the school's career leader in blocked shots and also set a team record for steals in a game.

Steffon Farley: Power forward out of Adelphi. Farley was the Sharks 1st round draft pick chosen seventh overall. He led Adelphi in blocked shots and offensive rebounds.

Ewan Linton: A power forward from Pikeville College in Kentucky. A 1st round draft pick selected ninth overall, a supplemental pick acquired from the Maryland GreenHawks, who are no longer in the PBL.

Camp Invitees

Dorain Brown: Small forward and younger brother of former RazorShark Troy Brown.

Jared Carter: A seven foot center out of Kentucky. The 23 year old last season with the PBL's Vermont Frost Heaves. Carter had his best game of the season against Rochester, scoring 18 points with nine rebounds in a 109-97 RazorShark win.

Demetrius Howard: A shooting guard with PBL experience. Howard has played for the Augusta Groove and Vermont Frost Heaves.

Todd McCoy: A shooting guard scouted by Coach Rod Baker out of Philadelphia.

Eric Moore: A point guard scouted by Coach Baker out of New Jersey.

Kendric Price: A power forward from Boston recommended to Rochester by former Shark Steve Haley.

Lonnell Shuler-Jones: A point guard who saw limited playing time with the PBL's Halifax Rainmen last season.

Perry Stevenson: A power forward from Kentucky who saw time this season with Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Developmental League before being released.

Cornelius Vines: A shooting guard from Hofstra out of Buffalo.

Coach Baker expects to have his final roster chosen by the end of next week.
