Lil Mama says she meant no disrespect when she jumped on stage, uninvited, to join Jay-Z and Alicia Keys as their performance of "Empire State of Mind" wound to an end.
"I did not mean any disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia Keys," the rapper/"America's Best Dance Crew" judge said in a statement released Monday. "I admire them and look up to them as role models. 'Empire State of Mind' had my emotions running high. In that moment I came up on stage to celebrate my two icons singing about NY."
Jay-Z, who completely ignored Lil Mama's on-stage antics, told the rapper after the performance, "You gonna T-Pain me?" He was referring to this summer's Hot 97 (WQHT) Summer Jam show, when an uninvited T-Pain stood on stage as Jay-Z introduced and performed his latest track, "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)."
