Hundreds gathered at the Word of Faith Love Center in East Point, GA Saturday to pay final respects to Dolla, the 21-year-old rapper who was shot and killed last Monday outside of the Beverly Center in Los Angeles.
In keeping with his wishes, the service followed the traditions of a Muslim Janazah funeral. The body of the entertainer, whose real name was Roderick Anthony Burton II, was wrapped in cream-colored fabric, and many of the mourners wore white clothing and draped glittering white scarves around their heads, according to the Associated Press.
Dolla's cousin, rapper Will "Scrapp DeLeon" Robinson, said Dolla once told him that he did not fear death, and when it came, he wanted people to wear white and celebrate his life. Scrapp, born Wilbert Robinson, was with his cousin at the time of the May 18 shooting.
After the service, Burton was laid to rest at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
The man accused of shooting him, Aubrey Berry of Snellville, pleaded not guilty to murder and assault charges Friday in Los Angeles. The 23-year-old Berry is being held in lieu of $5 million bail.
