R&B/Pop diva Rihanna just issued her first statement since being allegedly attacked by fellow chart-topping star and boyfriend Chris Brown..
In a release issued Friday, Rubenstein Associates says:
"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown. She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time."
Rihanna's statement comes just hours after a photo of the singer was released on entertainment website TMZ.com showing the battered face of the pop star with bruises on her forehead, bloody lips and other facial marks.
In other Rihanna news, her father, Ronald Fenty, is upset with the Los Angeles Police Department after receiving word that a photo of his daughter, shortly after her alleged altercation with Chris Brown, had been leaked and spread on the internet.
"Sloppy work on their part," Fenty told PEOPLE Friday.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced its investigation into the photo leak shortly after it was posted on TMZ.com and other entertainment sites late Thursday.
Rihanna also celebrated her 21st birthday yesterday.
