The baby who was moments from birth as his mother, M.I.A., performed with Jay-Z, T.I., Kanye West and Lil Wayne at the Grammys has made its successful entry into the world, according to a posting on her MySpace page.
The 31-year-old rapper, whose boy was born on Wednesday in Los Angeles, wrote Saturday that her baby is "healthy, fine, beautiful" and "the most amazing thing ever on this planet."
After mother and son's memorable performance of "Paper Planes" last Sunday, she jokes that the two are working together on a tour.
This is the first child for M.I.A., whose given name is Mathangi Arulpragasam, and her fianc�, Benjamin Brewer, lead singer and guitarist of The Exit. A representative says the couple has declined to release the baby's name.
As previously reported, M.I.A. said she began having contractions as soon as the Grammy ceremony began on Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. The rapper wrote "early stage labor kicked in around 2 a.m." the next morning.
