Wu-Tang Clan founder RZA is gearing up for a major splash in 2009, which includes adding additional dates to its current winter tour through the United States.
On Jan. 27, the artist will release "Afro Samurai: The Resurrection," a soundtrack to the second season of the animated Spike TV series that features Samuel L. Jackson as the voice of the title character.
The album features guest turns from Sly Stone, Kool G Rap, Rah Digga, Killah Priest, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah, Rah Digga, and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard's son Boy Jones.
In Summer 2009, RZA will appear opposite Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, and Leslie Mann in "The Funny People," a comedy from writer/director Judd Apatow ("The 40-Year Old Virgin," "Knocked Up"). The film follows a famous comedian coping with a near-death experience.
Meanwhile, the Wu-Tang Clan has added a few more dates to their 2008/09 winter tour.
The hip-hop icons hit the road at the end of November, and are currently working their way through an itinerary that stretches into mid-January. Since last check, they've tacked on stops in Pittsburgh and the Boston area, as well as in Jacksonville and Tampa, FL. Details are included below.
