The Wayans family is back with an all-new spoof of such dance movie classics as 'Hairspray,' 'Flashdance' and 'Save the Last Dance' with 'Dance Flick,' coming to theaters February 6, and you'll never guess which famous funnyman's son is the star of the movie!
Damon Wayans Jr. sat down with ET's Thea Andrews to talk about the new comedy, living in a famous family and his dad, "In Living Color" and "My Wife and Kids" star Damon Wayans.
"We're all multi-talented, we're weirdos," Damon says about his famous family that includes Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon and Shawn Wayans.
The eldest of four kids in his immediate family, Damon says his dad has always been supportive yet critical of his comedy in order to help him be the best he can be. "Strive for perfection -- that's definitely what he tries to do and that's what I'm going to try to do," says Damon of his dad's advice.
But before you think it was easy street landing the lead in 'Dance Flick' (directed by Damon's cousin Damien Dante Wayans), Damon reveals it was a very difficult task winning the role. "I had to audition for this movie, like, six times," he says. "It was agonizing."
And as for the complex dance moves required for the role, Damon reveals, "I learned how to dance for the movie -- I wasn't like a choreographed dancer before this."
