On Tuesday, The Dean's List had the pleasure of talking with T-Pain.
I must admit, I'd had a pretty hectic week and hadn't done much prep for the interview, which made me pretty nervous. The jitters went away the minute T-Pain opened his month - the fun began.....
Our conversation started talking about his new album "Thr33 Ringz", which will drop on November 11th. Pain is very excited about this new project which features appearances by Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Ludacris, Diddy, T.I., Akon, Mary J Blige, Raheem DeVaughn, and more.... "Thr33 Ringz has more features (artists) than songs on the album", says Pain. He wanted to work with Andre 3000, but he wasn't able to do it this go round. Pain says it will definitely happen next time.
As reported on WDKX.com on October 20th, T-Pain took over hosting duties for the BET Hip Hop Awards this past Saturday night (you can watch it tonight on BET at 8:00 PM). Pain was hand picked to host the ceremony after original host, Katt Williams (see today's WDKX.com blog - "Where In The World Is Katt Williams" for more details) and BET had a few issues. "I think they chose me to host because I said I would do it for free - but next time - the check will be super fat!", said Pain.
Pain is looking forward to coming to Rochester this Saturday as well as preparing for his new tour that starts in December. He tells me that the "Thr33 Ringz Tour" will come complete with clowns, little people and animals. Barnum and Bailey - T-Pain Style!
The hardest part about this interview for me was trying to stop laughing. If Pain ever wants to pursue another career - my vote is comedy!
Rochester - you are in for a treat! You too can spend some time with T-Pain this Saturday at the Blue Cross Arena. Tickets are going fast, so pick yours up today!
Don't forget to check out The BET Hip Hop Awards Tonight at 8:00 PM and get a very small sample of what this weekend in Rochester will be like - A T-Wayne Weekend!
