It's been a year since I received that horrible phone call saying that my friend James "Jimmy" Slater was gunned down and killed for his iPod, cell phone and $15.
365 days later and it still doesn't seem real. The family, especially Jimmy's mother, still experiences the same pain everyday as they did when this violent crime happened.
I wanted to stop today and honor the memory of Jimmy and also think about all of the other victims lost to senseless violence that continues to plague our city.
Stop for a moment today and say a prayer for the Slater family.
We miss you Jimmy!
