How To Register
1. You must be 18 years of age by the date of the election in which you want to vote
2. You must be a United States Citizen
3. You must be a resident of Monroe County for 30 days prior to the election
4. You must not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction
5. You must not be claiming the right to vote elsewhere
Registration forms are available at most government offices, banks, post offices, libraries, and Tops Supermarkets or you may register in person at the Monroe County Board of Elections Office, 39 W. Main Street, Rochester, New York (Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.).

Absentee Ballots
A voter may qualify to vote by absentee ballot if their duties, occupation, business or vacation requires them to be absent from their county of residence on election day or if they will be confined by illness, physical disability or for some other reason either on a temporary or permanent basis.
Important Dates in October:
Oct 10 - Last day to register in person at Board of Elections for the General Election
Oct 10 - Last day to postmark(mail) registration forms for the General Election
Oct 15 - Last day for BOE to receive any change of address, changes received after this date will take effect after the General Election
Oct 24 - Last day BOE can receive military absentee application for the General if NOT previously registered
Oct 28 - Last day BOE can receive military absentee application for the General if previously registered
Oct 28 - Last day to postmark application for an absentee ballot
