Live From NY - Its Phelps, Lil Wayne And Obama

Michael Phelps and Lil Wayne aren't the only person hoping to make waves on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live this weekend.

They will be joined by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, who'll be jetting in from New Hampshire, PEOPLE has learned, but whose role in the show is like many of the voters he covets: undecided.

"The details of the sketch are still being worked out," an Obama campaign spokesperson tells PEOPLE.

This is not Obama's first appearance on SNL. During the primary, he appeared opposite Amy Poehler's Hillary Clinton in a skit about a Halloween costume party in which Obama came dressed as ... Barack Obama.

"I have nothing to hide," he said in the skit. "I enjoy being myself. I'm not going to change who I am just because it's Halloween."

And you know, Sarah Palin won't be forgotten on the season premiere. Veteran 'Saturday Night Live' alum and Sarah Palin look-alike Tina Fey may be in talks to play the GOP vice presidential nominee on the show's season premiere this Saturday.

The New York Post reports that Fey, who left the sketch-comedy series two years ago, has not agreed to play the role, but the idea has been talked about.

"There are discussions," 'SNL' executive Lorne Michaels tells the paper. "They're ongoing."

A Palin sketch has already been written and rehearsed by another 'SNL' cast member, but may be changed because of the VP nominee's Thursday night ABC interview, says the paper.
