Young Adult Evening High School

The Rochester City School District this year is launching a new academic program for young adults to support them in completing their high school education. The Young Adult Evening High School (YAEHS) will offer afternoon and evening classes to meet the needs of high school students who may be considering dropping out. It will operate between the hours of 3:00 and 9:00 p.m., giving young people a more manageable way to attend classes without interfering with daytime adult responsibilities they may have.

The program is designed to return disenfranchised students back to the school system and help them complete a high school degree. The program has high expectations in way of increasing the graduation rate as well providing young adults more meaningful post-secondary opportunities.

In conjunction with core academic classes, students will also have the opportunity for tutoring, counseling, college preparation, and career development services.

To be eligible for the program, students must be:

- 17-20 years old

- Currently enrolled in high school

- Have a minimum of 9 course credits

- Have been in high school 3 years or more
