Will Smith Wants To Pay Your Mortgage

As part of its promotion for the Will Smith movie "Hancock," Columbia Pictures is offering to pay off the house note of one lucky family through its "Hancock's Helping Hand Mortgage" contest.

Entrants must write a 200 word essay explaining why they are deserving of the grand prize, which is worth up to $360,000. The winning applicant will have their mortgage debt paid off by the studio.

To enter and find the official contest rules, log on to http://www.Hancockmovie.com. The program begins immediately and runs through July 6.

"Hancock" stars Smith as a misunderstood superhero who is encouraged to improve his public image when he meets a good-hearted public relations executive. The film opens nationwide on July 2, with special advance screenings beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1.

Smith, meanwhile, went the extra mile during an appearance on "David Letterman" this week to promote the film. At one point during the interview, the actor gave the host a kiss on both sides of his face.

It started with Letterman complimenting the one-time rap star, stating: "Every time I see you, you just look better and better, and I'm wondering, because when you get to be my age you start thinking about..."

Smith interrupted by puckering his lips and leaning in toward Letterman. The host replied: "Oh stop it." Then Letterman leans in twice and lets Smith kiss him on each cheek.

"Once you go black, you never go back Dave," said Smith.

"This has taken an unforeseen direction," Letterman said. Band leader Paul Schaeffer chimed in: "Black is one thing, but this is ridiculous."
