WDKX Air Personality Profile - Bird
Continuing with the WDKX Air Personality profiles, this week the Dean's List would like to introduce you to Bird.
I haven't had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Bird, but he has definitely left a lasting impression. Even though he makes me feel real old by calling me, "Miss Dean", I believe it's his way of showing me respect since I am a tad older than he is.
I have attended two events that Bird hosted. One of those events was the WDKX Spring Fest this past April. Bird seemed like he was really in his element. He lives for Hip-Hop and the Rochester community. And the youth of Rochester loves him!
One thing you might be surprised to know is that Bird used to sing in a choir and was even directed by WDKX's own Paul Boutte at one time.

Who is your hero?
My parents (For dealing with their problem child all this time), Granddad James McCuller (R.I.P) & Andre Marcel (He saved me & a lotta folks from the old me.. Ha-Ha)
How did you get hired at WDKX?
I came in to freestyle on the 1st Percussive Vinyl show wit Freddy Colon & DJ Wizz. I was supposed to kick just 1 verse, but U know me I did 2. My mentor/boss Councilman called me a couple days later and said tell ya job U cant work weekends anymore. They want U 2 host!! And to think I wasn't gonna do it!! This was February 2006. I still haven't left. I got WDKX tattooed on me, so we married now. Ha-Ha
Why did you want to get into radio?
Because I have a BIG mouth & my parents submerged me in music. Plus I can't create songs & crack jokes and get paid for it in any other profession...
What was the best piece of advice you received from your parent(s)?
"If U sleep too long, All U get is a damn dream." "Be safe & alert out there, cuz I don't trust NONE of these folks!" - Dad
"Don't take no S#!t! I'd rather U be judged by 12, then carried by 6." - Mama

Check out of my hotel room. Listen to music. Watch wrestling. Come to WDKX. Bounce ideas around - record promos. Host "Da Joint". Broadcast live from Water Street. Hang out with my friends afterwards. Go home to my son.
What one thing would you change about yourself?
I'm too fat & too loud at times Ha-Ha...
