The Dean's List wrote my weekly thoughts and questions this morning. I received several responses, but one stood out from the rest.
In order to provide our readers with different points of view, I am posting the response (unedited) of one of our readers.
CJ - thanks for taking the time to respond:
*Why is Bob Lonsberry still on the air?
Answer: But Wham 13 is more interested in rating and controversy. They don't care what Mr. Lonseberry said may have offended because of what the color of the majority of children he was talking about.
*Every time Mayor Duffy talks about creating jobs in Rochester, his only example is the Price Rite market on Dewey and Driving Park. Sorry Mayor - you are going to have to do a little better than that!
Answer: Because the only job he has brought to Rochester is Price Mart. The Mayor is more interested in cutting the programs that may help and putting more money into Zero tolerance, so that the he can make more money off the tickets issued to hardworking people that was pulled over because of the neighborhood they live in versus arresting the drug dealer up the street.
*Don't you feel sorry for the young man who was in the play dedicated to the memory of James Slater, "Man Up?" Once he came home from performing in the play, he learned that his father had been shot to death on Clifford Avenue.
Answer: I feel sorry for that young man. And all the mother, fathers, sons, daughters and everyone else that has lost a family member to the disease of violence that has swept through out community. The cure starts at home.
*You know how powerful it would be if all of the community organizations, politicians, clergy members, educators, etc. all came together and agreed on how they could make a difference in this city? Stop trying to out do each other folks!!!
Answer: It would be a powerful thing. But they are too attention hungry and people bashing to understand if we all came together that everyone would be a force that could be noticed.
*If Barack Obama doesn't pick Colin Powell to be his running mate, wouldn't it be awesome if he chose Al Gore, who endorsed Obama yesterday?
Answer: Bump both of them, who better in the #2 spot them his Wife.. GO MICHELLE
*Why is it taking so long to complete the road work on Henrietta Road in front of MCC?
Answer: Because the construction workers only work when they feel like it. The real question is where are they most of time? I have a question, they are always working on 490, but when they are done why is the road still jacked up?
*Is it just me or does the song "The Mill" by Lil Wayne give you a headache?
Answer: Because you have to be high on syrup to listen to him. Looking at Lil Wayne gives me headache.
*I will miss watching Tim Russert on Sunday mornings on "Meet The Press" - RIP.
Answer: Me Too
*Are you going to Music Fest this year?
Answer: No. I am going to the Cincinnati Jazz Fest.
*I think we should give Dr. Jean-Claude Brizzard a standing ovation. In the short time he has been in Rochester, he has already made some changes!
Answer: Dr. Jean-Claude Brizzard for Mayor
*Are you still in shock that R. Kelly was acquitted? Watch your kid's folks!
Answer: I more amazed of the people cheering outside. He is a pedophile and his butt needs to be locked up.
*I was Downtown last night as the Rochester Jazz Festival was going on. Why didn't I see more people that looked like me?
Answer: Play more Jazz on your radio station instead of Bust It Baby or lollipop
*Have you heard the new song by Adrian Hood, "Brown Eyed Blues?" Damn! That's a beautiful song!!!(Listen live on WDKX.com).
Answer: Have you heard Words by Anthony David.. that song is fire too
*Don't you wish that a certain public official (even though I'm sure his heart is in the right place) would just shut the hell up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer: I don't think he is loud enough. At least he says something
*Can you maintain a friendship with someone you once had a relationship with?
Answer: If you were friends first. Friendship is the foundation for all meaningful relationships
*Have you ever read the responses on the D&C website? More than a few have very warped minds - we should be afraid, very afraid.
Answer: I am one of the warped minds your are talking about
*Are you as proud as I am of all of the graduates? With the multitude of obstacles in their way, this is a major accomplishment!
Answer: I am proud of all the children who made the conscious decision that education was a major importance in there life and to all the adults in their was pushing , watching, mentoring , and encouraging them to continue
*I pray for a safe week in Rochester.
Answer: Me too.. let aim bigger.. I pray for a safe summer. Maybe then I will let my kids go out and play.
