When I met Capn Andy (Andrew Anderson) at WDKX, my first thought was that he might not fit into the cast of characters assembled for the Wake Up Club. Once you hang around him for awhile, you find out that Capn Andy can fit in anywhere he goes.
He is open for anything and has a very adventurous spirit. From having a large tattoo of a native American Dream catcher on his back, to falling off the Irondequoit Bay Bridge and didn't break any bones, to learning to drive a massive 8-wheel farm tractor before he could drive a car - Andy loves to try new things.
I was also surprised to learn that Andy has been in broadcasting for 23 years - that's hard to believe since he looks so young.

Making me pick only ONE is sooo evil. If I had to choose just one, it would be "More Than This" by Roxy Music. If you've never heard it, you're missing out.
Movie:
I'll go with either "The Fifth Element", "UHF", or "Mad Max: The Road Warrior"
Hero:
Easy one. My dad. He grew up with nothing, only to turn around and give us everything.
How were you hired at WDKX Radio?:
As they say, timing is everything. I had been doing traffic for WDKX for over 10 years through Metro Traffic when we got downsized and closed. At the same time, Sheira was leaving the morning show, and Andre asked me if I wanted to join the station full-time. Wow..was that a no-brainer!
Why did you get into Radio:
I started at my high school radio station because I thought it would be cool to have my friends hear me on the radio. After being in the business for a bit, I came to understand it better and gained a passion for it.
Best Advice From Your Parents:
"Get out of bed!" Seriously! If you spend most of your life in bed, or going through life with your eyes only half-open, you miss so much of what's going on around you.
Best Thing About Rochester:
Having four actual seasons to enjoy.
What I Dislike About Rochester:
That red squiggly statue-thingy at the intersection of Lake Ave/Ridgeway Ave/Route 104. What the heck is that thing, and how much money was overspent on it?
Perfect 24 Hours:
Waking up next to my wife, Molly; going out for breakfast together, then both of us taking a walk on Durand beach. Sit in the backyard under the maple tree for a bit with the iPod on, a nice dinner, then a long evening motorcycle ride with a few friends.
One Thing I Would Change About Myself:
I'm a bit of slob. Although I've gotten better over the years with picking my stuff up, I've still got a ways to go.
