Lil Wayne is dealing with yet another leak of his upcoming album "Tha Carter III" after an anonymous DJ decided to punish the rapper for his recent remarks blasting the mixtape industry.
According to Billboard.biz, tracks from the album were uploaded to the Internet Friday (May 30) ahead of its June 10 release date as retaliation for the rapper's May 28 comments in Foundation Magazine.
Lil Wayne expressed frustration with the mixtape community for routinely robbing him of sales while they, in turn, make a profit. He also expressed that he is not interested in recording any more mixtapes.
Message boards at hip-hop Web sites immediately lit up with reactions from the mixtape diehards, which ranged from boycotting Lil Wayne to leaking "Tha Carter III," reports Billboard.
The MC called into DJ Drama's Sirius Satellite radio show two days later and clarified that he was not upset with all DJs, but a collective called The Empire, specifically. Over the past year, The Empire released a multi-part series entitled "The Drought Is Over" featuring Lil Wayne's material. However, according to the rapper, he had no agreement with The Empire, nor did he clear the company to use his music.
