Singer Ne-Yo has pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge in Georgia's Cobb State Court stemming from a traffic stop in February.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he was sentenced to 24 hours of community service, fined $1,000 and must attend a defensive driving class. The artist, born Shaffer Chimere Smith, must also perform a concert for the Boys & Girls Club.
On Feb. 19, Ne-Yo was behind the wheel of his Range Rover going 105 mph in a 55 mph zone when he was pulled over at 2:28 a.m. on South Cobb Drive and Cobb Parkway.
He was ticketed for reckless driving and for not having a Georgia license. Ne-Yo explained to police that he had been living in Georgia for only one year.
His upcoming album "The Year of the Gentleman" is scheduled to be released in August.
