Nas has figured out a way to release his upcoming album under the title he had originally chosen before it was scrapped due to public pressure.
According to rhapsody.com, the rapper will team with DJ Green Lantern to release "The Ni**er Mixtape."
"We only really kicked it a couple times over the two-way pager and email like, "Let's do the mixtape," the DJ told rhapsody.com. "He's a real cool dude. He'll hit you out of the blue.....'"
Green also said he hoped to feature Nas on a song called "Black President" for his forthcoming Barack Obama mixtape. Nas decided instead to hold the track for his next album, but Green said he hoped to feature it on "The Ni**er Mixtape."
As for Nas's May 19th announcement that his album would no longer have the N-word as a title, Green feels the name change had more to do with corporate forces than community outrage.
"I guess it shows you the power of Wal-Mart and Target. If that was the case, it's definitely scary because it kind of f**ks with your artistic vision," Green said.
"The N****r Mixape" will feature producer Salaam Remi, David Banner and other exclusive mixes. The CD is expected to be about 10 tracks long. A release date has yet to be announced.
